There is a fundamental issue in this restaurant. It would not be an overstatement to say it starts with the decisions of the owners and chef on the food put on the table. For example, they put no kimchi from Korean cabbages! That is the defining staple food of Korean traditional dishes. Instead, they opt for western cabbage (양배추) as a supplement of the traditional Korean kimchi. Absolutely unacceptable! They keep up-selling the other expensive dishes, but when it comes to their main selling point, they provide no reason to come back. The grilled fish are too thin, tasteless and un-edible. Many of the base dishes are very carelessly prepared. I would not bring any of my friends here unless the whole basic approach to their food and service change. The room that we were in had three other groups, and it felt like we were not valued as customers.

The food was okay, but could have been better. Service wasn’t great - the server was not rude, but was not very friendly and was not very responsive. I agree with the previous reviewer that Sandeulhae provides much better value and tasty food.

This establishment may not be ideal for those seeking traditional Korean cuisine, particularly if they are not vegetarian. I had anticipated an elevated experience comparable to Sandeulhae, given the higher price point, but this was not the case. Unlike Sandeulhae, a well-known Korean restaurant chain in Seoul celebrated for its unlimited refills of side dishes (banchan) and offerings such as grilled fish, steamed pork, and marinated crabs, Omiga provided a less appealing grilled fish as its protein and uninspired side dishes that are readily available at more budget-friendly Korean restaurants.

This is one of the only places that my mom and I find ourselves going back to every time we visit Korea. You’re served a bunch of “banchan”, ranging from different vegetable side dishes to ones with fish and meat. It’s great for those who like to enjoy a little bit of everything, with different flavors and textures. Super healthy and super filling, my mom and I are always stuffed by the end!

I don't disagree we would have better hanjeong sik in Seoul than Omiga but the decor and the vibes that it provides is incomparably classic and it offers private rooms for any gathering size. Not arguing the food was ok and the service by the ajumma could have been improved. It stands as one of my wife and my go-to places for the traditional Korean dishes for the past 10 years or so.
